Hennie Bekker (born 1934) is a Juno-nominated, Zambian-born composer, arranger, producer and keyboardist based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His work includes jazz fusion, film scoring, new-age and techno.
Hennie Bekker is a master composer, and an award-winning, multi-platinum and internationally selling musician. Known for his ambient and New Age sound along with his extensive work composing and arranging for film and television, Bekker is a pioneering figure in the use of nature sounds to complement music. His skill as a pianist and use of the latest digital music technology are part of the essence of his signature style
Profile: Zambian-born composer (born 1934), arranger, producer and keyboardist based in Toronto, Canada since 1987. Best known for his New Age sound on the Solitudes, Kaleidoscopes and Tranquility album series. He was also a creative force behind BKS, one of Canada’s most successful techno/dance bands. Raised in a Zambian mining town, Hennie spent eight years performing with various bands throughout Zambia, South Africa, Congo and Zimbabwe before settling in Johannesburg.
Bekker is best known for his New Age sound on Dan Gibson’s Solitudes – Exploring Nature with Music series, and his own Kaleidoscopes, African Tapestries, and Hennie Bekker’s Tranquility album series. He was also the creative force behind BKS, one of Canada’s most successful techno/dance bands.
