Bandwagonesque is the third album by Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub, released in November 1991 on Creation Records. The album gave the band substantial US success when the single "Star Sign" reached number four on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, becoming their biggest hit in that country, with "What You Do to Me" and "The Concept" also becoming top 20 hits on that chart.

Gibbard, after all, is a talented singer and songwriter with a knack for pop-rock music that’s sharper than most. He has been the primary creative force behind a whole bunch of music that ranges in quality from pretty good to life-changing. And he’s a long-avowed super-fan of the Fannies. Bandwagonesque, for its part, is arguably the best album by arguably the best pop-rock band of the past three decades. There are no shortcomings in the material. On both, Gibbard lets the songs’ natural momentum carry him, only stripping away some of Bandwagonesque producer Don Fleming’s crunchy, period-appropriate production in favor of modern atmosphere and a bit of Northwest chill. Listen closely in between the notes and you’ll probably hear the self-deprecating Gibbard talking to himself in the studio: Don’t mess with this one, Benjamin. Just get out of the way.

Gibbard has often spoken about how important the original record is to him, and it’s no surprise that his Bandwagonesque acts as a 40-minute love letter to one of his greatest inspirations. His version of the record’s 12 tracks are mostly faithful recreations, and with one or two exception, he doesn’t typically deviate from the Beatles-esqe arrangements and killer melodies found on the original recordings. Gibbard’s album is not a better one than the original, nor was that its intent. Fans of Death Cab and Teenage Fanclub alike should have a blast with Gibbard’s loving take on the material, and listeners who are coming into this record without ever hearing these songs before are in for a wonderful, largely faithful, tour of one of the finest guitar pop records ever made.

Overall Opinion: I'm sad to read all the crap Gibbard is getting for "touching this classic". Eso si, gracias a Ben Gibbard, pude conocer a otra gran banda perdida en el tiempo y en el espacio, esperando a ser descubieta. Gracias cuatrojos!
