Yes, another Stereolab compilation; this one focuses on the band's 11 years on Elektra Records. Per the billing in its subtitle, Serene Velocity is an anthology of Stereolab's 11 years on Elektra Records: a career retrospective, primer, beginner's guide, portable collection, or any of the other names we give greatest hits albums from bands who can't claim to have actual conventional hits. Not the most exciting concept in the world, but it's certainly a useful one. This is a band we talk about a lot- in passing references and comparisons, as critics' shorthand, as a touchstone

Serene Velocity is a compilation album by Stereolab, released in late 2006. It focuses on material released during the band's Elektra years. Re-recording of a track from the Jenny Ondioline EP. Songs 4 and 5 from the 1994 Mars Audiac Quintet album (song 5 is the re-recording issued as a single). Songs 6, 7 and 8 from the 1996 Emperor Tomato Ketchup album. Songs 9 and 10 from the 1997 Dots and Loops album. Songs 11 and 12 from the 1999 Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night album. Songs 13 and 14 from the 2001 Sound-Dust album. Songs 15 and 16 from the 2004 Margerine Eclipse album.

This compilation has 16 tracks that come from recordings that span a wide range of time, and thus it offers a glimpse into several of the various permutations of Stereolab's sound. All of the songs on "Serene Velocity" are good, and some of them, in my opinion, are among their best (. Jenny Ondioline, French Disko, Ping Pong, Wow and Flutter, and Metronomic Underground).

The discography of Stereolab, an English-French rock band, comprises thirteen studio albums, seven compilation albums, fifteen extended plays, sixteen singles, and twenty-three rarities compilations. Release dates listed are earliest worldwide. The UK chart position for "The Free Design" represents sales on 7" only. Because chart rules at the time limited singles to three tracks, the CD and 12" formats were considered an album for chart purposes and reached on the Budget Albums chart.
