Ednaswap was a rock band from Los Angeles, United States, that existed between 1993 and 1998. Over a span of five years, the band released four major label records on East West, Elektra Records and Island Records. The band is best known for the song "Torn", which was written by band members Scott Cutler, Anne Preven and Phil Thornalley and first recorded by Danish artist Lis Sørensen. It later appeared on Ednaswap's debut album and has been covered many times since then, by artists such as Trine Rein, Natalie Imbruglia, Tori Amos, Hands Like Houses, Neck Deep, and One Direction. Ednaswap's self-titled 1995 album was the band's only record for EastWest, and the album was never put into wide release. Ednaswap was released from their contract after the album was out. The band was immediately signed by Island Records.

After Ednaswap released their original album, it was covered by Norwegian singer Trine Rein on her 1996 album Beneath My Skin. Trine Rein's version is almost exactly like Imbruglia's version (and is even in English), but has a much more melodramatic feel, with piano chord hits throughout and harder electric guitar accents. The Trine Rein version has a similar bridge to Lis Sørenson's version, as long as the original Ednaswap version, but with a breakdown like Imbruglia copied. In 1996, Ednaswap released a completely retooled version on Chicken . In 1998, Ednaswap released a "Radio Mix" of the song on their single "Back on the Su. There are many electronic accents throughout the song. There is no bridge, and the outro is sung by Ednaswaps's lead singer Anne Preven rather than played on an electric guitar. 4:15. If this album doesn't do it for them, I'm not sure what will! For Ednaswap fans, this album will sound closer to their now out-of-print self titled debut on EastWest records (a company that failed to market them, and basically let them die on the vine) than their previous release-"wacko magneto.
