Craven: Set for Piano. Gramophone Magazine, January 2013 Mor. elease Date: 22nd Oct 2012. Craven: Set for Piano. This collection of 12 pieces by Eric Craven maps out a journey from the known to the unknown, from the familiar to the experimental, from the directly linear to the serpentine twists and turns embodied in new discovery. At the end of the journey only the essentials are manifested; conventional melody and harmony, dynamics, articulation and phrasing distil into pure, refined pitch and, at this point, the music is completely stripped down enabling notes to float freely.

Violinist Darragh Morgan and pianist Mary Dullea present this album of British composer Michael Finnissy's complete (to date) music for violin and piano, accompanied on second piano and harpischord on three pieces by the composer himself. Finnissy, considered among the best of today's composers, demonstrates his wry, sardonic sense of humour and reluctance to be taken too seriously even when playing serious music on Molly House, performed on household implements. Recorded at The Harty Room, Queen’s University, Belfast in June 2008 Engineer and producer: Chris Corrigan Executive Producers: Darragh Morgan, Mary Dullea & Michael Finnissy Recorded with financial support from the RVW Trust and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Cover and packaging design: Stephen Sutton Sketch of the performers by Dermot Flynn.
