Though wide-screen preciousness is Snow Patrol's forte, the band's newest album, A Hundred Million Suns, is noticeably lighter on surging, megawatt stadium-filling fare, instead placing more emphasis on nuance. Making soaring sissy-rock isn't as easy as it sounds, especially not when it pulls the heartstrings as precisely as Snow Patrol managed on the group's first two major-label albums, 2003's Final Straw and 2006's Eyes Open.
